About us
We're a volunteer-run user group for people in Egypt who use, run, and build on PostgreSQL.
Why we exist
Plenty of teams in Egypt run on Postgres, but there hasn't been a regular place for the people behind those databases to meet. Most of what we learn ends up in private chats and post-mortems that never leave the company.
We want to change that: a place to share what works, admit what didn't, and meet the people who've already solved the problem you're stuck on.
What we do
- PG Day Egypt, a one-day conference. The first one is planned for 2027.
- Meetups and online sessions with practical, real-world talks.
- Slides and recordings shared afterwards, so the knowledge stays around.
What we care about
- Practical over promotional. A talk should teach you something you can use on Monday. No sales pitches.
- Room for everyone. Students and people new to databases are as welcome as people running Postgres at scale.
- Free to attend. Our events are free, and we intend to keep them that way.
- Respect. Everyone who takes part follows our Code of Conduct.

Common questions
- Do I need to be a Postgres expert to come?
- Not at all. Some people at our events run large production clusters, and some installed Postgres last week. Both are welcome, and questions are encouraged.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Our events are free to attend. Sponsors and volunteers cover the costs.
- Is this an official PostgreSQL project group?
- No. We're an independent, volunteer-run user group. PostgreSQL itself is developed by the PostgreSQL Global Development Group.
- What happened to PG Day Egypt 2026?
- It didn't go ahead. Our first PG Day Egypt will be in 2027, and the details will be on 2027.pgegypt.org as soon as they're confirmed.
